Meet Laurie

Laurie was born in Memphis, Tennessee. She graduated with honors from White Station High School, earned an undergraduate B.S. in English/Psychology from Indiana University, an M.A. in Education from California State University, and an M.S. in Counseling from University of Memphis. She is a Master's level Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with Mental Health Service Provider (MHSP) designation in the State of Tennessee and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She belongs to the American Counseling Association (ACA), West Tennessee Counseling Association (WTCA), American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA), and International Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (IAMFT).

She has been in private practice for two decades treating adults. She does not treat children and does not prescribe medication. She will partner with your physician regarding prescriptions and medication management.
She has worked at an outpatient psychiatric clinic and as a Crisis Counselor at a psychiatric hospital, authored a clinical article on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) published in Family Therapy. She has served as a volunteer counselor and trainer at suicide and crisis intervention centers in several states and as a volunteer National Depression Day screener for the Shelby County Mental Health Association. For over 20 years, she taught personal growth and interpersonal communication courses to a wide audience, including high school and college students, businesses, and adults in the Continuing Education Department at University of Memphis. She was named one of the 1999 Memphis Woman’s “50 Women Who Make a Difference.” She has been married for over 30 years.
